it works! and more----

mornin folks--

i guess i'm just wasting time here.. looking for pics to go with this post, cuz as i search for pics, peeps are commenting below-- so i will get this up here real quick-- without the silly photos this time. (ok , one photo) :))

sooo anyhow. first off----

yes-- the A/C IS working !!! the guys were here last night til almost 9.. i guess at least 830 or so.
the a/c was on, and blowing cold when they left--- but .. always a BUT right? anyhow-- they think there may still be a leak.. a freon leak. i really don't know why they think that. you'd think they should be confident in their work. wouldn't you? there were two of them. geesh. anyhow. they wanted to come back today-- to check, but i won't be here part of the day-- so i said tomorrow would be better .. so tomorrow it shall be. this is all so irritating.
anyhow-- like i said though-- so far, so good. we ran the a/c all night-- and it was actually almost cold.. as it was a stormy cool night anyhow. so i am really hoping for NO more problems.

however-- as for the "critters" in the attic.. still haven't really found anything. i did find "evidence " that "something" is eating the stuff/poison that i put up there, and carrying it around.. but i haven't sen the actual "thing" yet. i do think once people stop going up and down ten times a day they will be running around more-- and we will get em though !! i hope.

now-- we found found out a new "thing" about EEVEE last night.. and it's not so great. it was like trying to sleep with a colicky two month old baby ! we had a pretty bad thunderstorm roll through in the night.. maybe around ten pm... well.. some of you may know that some dogs will be what they call "gun shy".. some will be afraid of loud noises.. or thunder.
well... we found out last night that eevee, is terrified... of thunder. it made for a horrible night sleep for both soulman and i.
first-- when it started.. she was outside-- i was in bed-- and soulman-- of course-- was playin x-box live. he couldn't really hear everything that was going on, because of the noise and talking etc on the game/headset etc... but i could hear the thunder and eevee freaking out.... so i kept hollering for him to bring her into the bedroom ...
finally he says she was outside. well.. i'm like-- "it's thundering!!!" so he brings her in. he puts her in her crate in the bedroom, and goes back out. it wasn't long before i fell asleep--and i didnt hear anything else til maybe 12 - ish. by then soulman was in bed too.. and eevee was havin an absolute fit in her crate. whining, barking, scratching the bars.. name it-- any kind of noise she could make-- she was making it. we tried to ignore her, and sleep-- it didn't work. finally after half an hour or an hour--- of not sleeping only listening to her and talking to her-- did we finally give in and let her loose. we thought maybe out of her crate she would feel better, and find a place to lay down. did it happen that way??? NO. no it did not.
it was even worse. not only did she whine at every thunder and noise... she paced, and her nails clicked on the wood floor, and she walked from y side to his and panted in our faces and whimpered. and THIS went on forever. til finally---- i tried to just get her into our bed. which is really high off the ground. and she had a hard time with that-- but first she had a hard time figuring out what exactly we wanted her to do-- cuz she hasn't been allowed on the bed before. so i would try to pat the bed and call her up--and when she wouldn't get up--he would do it-- so instead of getting on the bed..she would..click-click-click--to his side of the bed! over-and over again... for-ever! finally-- soulman just grabbed her and yanked her up onto the bed..and petted her til she settled down. had to be like 130 or so. not sure.
then something happened at 230-- i just dont even remember what it was-- but we were both awake talking to each other--and our new bed partner for a while... oh the joy of it all. :))
next thing i know-- it was like 6 a.m and i woke up for no reason really... guess cuz it was just time to wake up- even though my alarm was set for 515.. i found it on my stomach (my cell phone).. must've turned it off and went back to sleep).... so i got up.
hubby got up a few minutes later..

and the day began.. both of us totally exhausted after a night with our new baby.
at least we know what do to next time-- we'll begin the night with her in bed with us.. and not torture her--or ourselves for hours trying to figure out what calms her in a thunderstorm.
holy crap-- wouldn't you think their old owners would have told us she was afraid of thunder? or did they just leave the poor baby outside too often to know? how sad for her if she was that scared all alone outside huh?

anyhow--- that was my night--
how was y'alls???

We have to give Rocky a valium during thunderstorms. He goes to pieces. After 10 years we're still not used to it! You've a long road ahead. No more yorkies for us! all terriers are like that. Things have gotten so bad our next dog is to be a boer boel. Look them up! Doubt if anyone trys to break in on us then! auntie j

Oh there's an idea. Maybe I'll ask the vet for valium. Oakleigh is thundershy and it is so awful. She tries to hide in every closet, under every table, bed, desk, stair. She is inconsolable and it breaks your heart. valium. yup.

Ooooh, sounds like a BAD night. That sucks. Ugh...our dog is scared during storms too, and she acts really crazy, but she's already crazy, so you never really know what the problem is.

At least you aren't sweating..

Hope you day is good. I'm around if you want to talk.

We don't have a dog but our cat is less than brave in a thunder storm. It can make for a long night. Several years ago we had an akita that was a real sweetheart until a thunder storm. We discovered that having her sleep beside the bed with her "blankie" covering her - including her head - would give her security.

aw, poor puppy! Sounds like my child! ha I've heard it's supposed to be "Armageddon" weather today. Great. I have to laugh that your AC got fixed and it's kinda cold today. lol

Wow..you are so LUCKY that you found a solution so quickly. If being in bed with you during a storm stops her anxiety, its better than having to medicate her. One of my dogs (a german shepherd mix) was terrified of storms. I tried everything because I hated medicating her (pills I got from the vet). I even got a tape of thunder, hoping that if I played it enough she would become used to it and not be afraid. What I discovered by doing that was that she wasn't so afraid of the thunder ...she was afraid of the LIGHTNING..which she KNEW accompanied the thunder. Even putting her in bed with me didn't solve the problem and I had to medicate her during every storm and for the 4th of July.
Shame on the previous owners for not telling you...makes you wonder what else they didn't tell you. Soul-man needs to take her out somewhere and do some target shooting to see if she's gun shy. Maybe he can work with her on that and it may solve the thunder problem too. Good luck.
LOL...sorry, but in Soul-land...its always something. Never boring, that's for sure.
Keep smilin'...(makes um wonder what you've been up to)

Glad to hear the nimrods go the a/c going !

Poor Eevee - Bear gets that way too. Forunatly he has no fear of climbing in bed with us. He's a bit of a bed hog/dog

oh, man. that sounds rough! Sorry she is so scared. Now if my kitties would learn not to take a bath while leaning on me at 2am, I'd get a good night sleep as well :)

My son has a puppy and i keep saying - this is excellent practice for later!! But somehow they're worth it. I had a dog that I loved and had to put to sleep. She was so afraid of thunder and it was supposed to storm on her last night - but mercifully it didn't.

I am SO happy for you that the a.c. is working. Gracie used to have alot of issues with thunder and storms....she does better now when i ask her to come onto the bed and then she might not sleep but is less barky and settles down some at least.

My neighbor gives her dog Benadryl every time it storms. It works for them. Aren't there a lot of storms in you neck of the woods?

Rusty is really afraid of thunder too. We have never left him out while it's raining or anything but he just becomes a coward when the sky looks threatening. We can't even use food to lure him out. Luckily, all he does is hide under the table or follow us around. He doesn't pace around and go click click click. That sound can drive you crazy!

Our cats hate fireworks. But they just find a corner to hide in til it's over.

A friend gave us a herbal tranquilizer for the cats once. It makes em all sleepy and calm, but it's from some plant. I'll find out the name for you.

where the hell are you???

My dad had a dog like that once. If it started raining we had to RUN home IMMEDIATELY so that he wouldn't be alone and scared and tear the place up. Poor thing. Good luck with that. Truly.
So that was yesterday. How's today?

Hiya Soul,

Poor puppy, maybe in time she can adjust. You could try putting a blanket that smells like you and Mr. Soulman in the crate if you really don't want her on the bed with you during this time. The clsoe scent of you will calm her down.

Some petstores have a small bottle of this homeopathic anti-anxiety stuff. You could try that, I think it has some cammomile and other harmless herbs to animals that might help soothe their nerves. Might be worth the try.

I can't believe your talking A/C when I'm up here in the North freezing my cold, rainy ass off! :>

Hey, you ok? Where's our new post? It doesn't feel right coming here and no new post!

Hope you are well... cooled off, no pain, nice doggies. Hugs!

Luckily, my dog and kids don't have any problems during thunderstorms. I think I'd go nuts if they did.
Glad you found a good solution, though:)
