Mother Nature Is A Bitch!

if anyone has read my first post of the day...and the comments section, y'all know already that my day began rough , as it was.
BUT... while i was out, finally running my errands for the day...and already in a rather pissy mood...and hungry. i had been too busy to eat at that point. in fact i just now sat down with a delicious "cup a soup"...YUM. but even though i am starving...i must post this real quick first.
anyhow... yes josie .. a meatball sub would have been delightful...but you will soon see why it didn't even cross my mind to go there while i was out....
ok..
ready? (click any photo to enlarge)

(soul sneaks a quick bite of her yummy ramen)

ok.... i'm out runnin errands...banks PO box etc... so the Post Office is near the creek... yes the one i catch all my big bass at... not the pond where monstah boy came from, but they're not far from each other.... so i'm actually on my way to the post office.... when all of the sudden everything around me instantly turned to total destruction !!!! no shit ! i called hubby, to have him google the town i was in to see if there had been a tornado last night that we didn't hear about. he did, and said there was no news at all about it. interesting.
because LOOK...

THIS is my creek !!!! my haven. God i hope the fish are ok. there was a family there while i was taking pictures... throwing big ole muscles off the bank back into the creek..LOTS of them ! i did see several live turtles swimming around... but maaan, i'm worried about the fish.

above is my fishin spot ! see how high the water got, where the grass is all laid down?

This is also my spot.. right at the bend in the creek. THAT POLE on the ground... it did not come from the pole it lies next to. i have NO idea where it came from. it's just "there".

this one above here, is just a little bit from the bend... this is where i caught my first big bass at this creek... look at that tree. there WAS also a birdhouse there nearby.. a tall red one.. the pole remains.. bent over almost to the ground... i think either someone stole the birdhouse...or it got washed away.

this is the entrance...obviously. the pavement is destroyed...and do you see the guard rail at the end? water did that. this was all FLOOD damage. not a tornado....or wind. just the fury of water ! 8 inches of rain in one hour...according to a lady i talked to.

that wooden "plank".. or "bridge" there... no clue where it came from.. i've never seen it before !

there's a better shot...

geesh. well... i didn't see any dead fish... but it doesn't mean it didn't happen. i sure hope NOT.

these pics below are about half a mile down the street....

that is a NEW pickup in the great circle i drew...that got washed into the creek in these peoples' yard !!!!!

and below... look at all the grass and debris on that bridge! THAT is how high the water got !

just imagine if we were out there fishing when all this happened. crap!

I was wondering if you were okay, I have been watching the flood coverage on FOX all day from your area. Where in the dfw area do you live? Back in 1985, I lived on Lake Ray Hubbard, in Garland. I was there one year. It sucked, although that had nothing to do with the area. Although, I do remember that it rained more that year than i have ever seen in my life....

we live near fort worth... one of those smaller cities. no where near Haltom City where that little girl drowned. thank God. man. i don't know exactly how that happened...but if i woulda been anywhere near that kid, i woulda got washed away with her.
man. i just can't believe some of the damage and loss i'm hearing about and seeing today

by the way... hubby caught his biggest bass to date at ray roberts.
of course...we don't have a weight. we have a pic tho. :))

oh, and i didn't mean i'd have been accidentally washed away with that kid..i meant..either i would have saved her...or died with her...especially if she was mine. but like i said. i don't know the details. she could have been too far from anyone to have helped her.
sad.

Well, I don't know what the hell happened out there, cuz I never stop working or sleeping long enough to see the news. But maybe that's a good thing?

What DID happen to yer fishin hole?

Call me , I need to explain more about what I want in a website.

Love me

it got FLOODED, and destroyed. the entire park is a disaster. did you not look at the pics? that bridge, and ruck pic were both half a mile from the actual creek...that was all overflow flood water from my creek. fish could have been washed miles down the road in the flood. look how high over the water the bridge is...water was way up there. we were there at like 8pm, to check out the fishing..which sucked , so we moved to the pond...which also sucked...other than the catfish. apparently this big storm went thru about midnight. that place where the truck is...they have a big ole iron fence with mailbox post sized brick fence posts...taller of course...their whole fence almost was destroyed, along with a few of the brick posts. many other fences were torn down...wood, and chain link. i couldn't believe it.
it'll take several days...or longer for that water to clear up. so i have no idea when i will know anything about how the fish fared. i am sure many were swept down the road, and others just pummeled to death. i don't know. it just sucks. there were some beautiful fish in there. it hurts my heart to think there could be a big ole "fish kill" out there. not to mention the fact that i obviously won't be fishing for a while. maybe a long while.

anyhow...you call me...or email what you want. all you said was you wanted listings up. if you want other pics etc...they have to be jpegs. just take pics and email them.

Oh Soul, this is horrible destruction. It must have been so shocking after just being there last evening. I bet you couldn't quite believe your eyes. Sometimes mother nature attacks with a vengance. How tragic that a little girl died. I do hope your fishes are for the most part ok, and hunkered down deep with the storm hit. Hopefully they'll get this mess cleaned up in no time so you can get back to fishing. I am so glad you weren't there at the time, but as hard as it must have been raining, I'm sure you would have shortly headed home.

BTW, kaftan pix now posted on my blog. :-)

A little girl died?? How???
I'm so sorry...I'm going to have to turn on FOX news to see what's happening.

EE, apparently several people, and a few other kids have died in this flooding on Monday. when i wrote that i had only known of the one four year old girl drowning, and some other people missing.
apparently this one little girl was in a boat with her parents..an escape boat, not like a boat on a lake..they were in a trailer park i think....but anyhow... the mother lost her grip and the girl got swept away. the dad said he tried to save her by swimming after her but "had to save himself".

sorry. but there's no saving myself in that situation, if it was my kid my hubby and me both woulda gone down with her. all three of us know that. i just don't understand how a parent can say that. i had to save myself.
hmph. she was four. a little blonde girl. nope.

That would definitely be a frightening thing to just happen upon without warning.

Right now in ND, the Red River is exploding with flood... just like back in the early 90s.

The weather has been rather wonky lately, wouldn't you say?

SOUL said...

wonky? most definately. but for the fact that i have never in my life heard that word. lol.

but yes, i have been in a couple flash floods and they are scary. once was in the middle of the mojave desert in a volkswagon dasher...with my mom, sister and dog..and me...along with as many of our belongings as it would hold. it was dark and raining, and we were the only car out there...all of the sudden our car was driftin like an out of control boat! we came to a stop...sorta... and there we sat...dead in the water...sitting in the car waist deep in water inside the car. i was ten when this happened. it was scary. but some dude in a tow truck came a long..quite some time later, and towed us out of the water...and believe it or not... that little ole car started right up ! after sitting in water for at least a couple hours. we've always considered that guy "an angel."
how else would a tow truck, just show up out in the desert in the middle of nowhere in a flash flood, and happen upon us? and the the car start... and drive another hundred miles!
strange but true.
