she and her husband came here! to my place. no, they didn't stay at my place--- that might be a little odd, to meet someone online and then stay at their house on the first meeting---- but they stayed close by.... and i will tell ya what.... her and her husband are just absolutely fantastic people!!!!
me, being such a not so face to face - social person... i was scared to death of meeting her/them. but it turned out great! we were only able to spend saturday together... but had a great day....and evening. our husbands got along great, and needless- maybe- to say- jamie and i --- geesh... we hit it off great. i can't tell you how many times we said the same thing at the same time... even one time , in response to soulman... we both gave him a silent thumbs up---at the same time! we laughed until we hurt ourselves.
i didn't mention that she was coming sooner because i was a nervous wreck as it was, and couldn't think straight enough to actually plan anything for when they got here. all i could do was clean my house, and try to compose myself to actually speak face to face with someone other than soulman and my kid. also i wasn't ready for a bunch of questions from people about what are ya gonna do.. or even worse---are you crazy or somethin...bringin people you don't "know" to your house? ya know.
so..just so ya know.. i wasn't being deceitful in my silence... it was basically self preservation.
but also... just so ya know---- jamie is as wonderful a person in "real life" as she is on her blog.
and she really put herself through hell in driving all the way here with the pain she has to endure as it is without being trapped in a car for 11 hours. her husband is a great guy for driving her out. it would have been doulbly hard on her poor body had she actually driven all the way here.
anyhow... here we are....
soul and jamie----or jamie and soul whichever you prefer.... we clean up pretty good eh?
not that we don't look as stupid as we were acting that night.. :)) we had a total blast!
just tell me ya can't make TRUE friends online. i won't beleive you.

Response to previous question and answer. No I never lived in Chi. Back in my "working days" a couple of interns and I were stranded there when O'Hare closed in a snow storm. The airline put us in a hotel somewhere in the city. God only knows where it was. One of the interns knew about the Billy Goat Tavern and knew we weren't far away. Taxi service was moving so we went to the tavern to eat. Burger wasn't that good but the tavern (really just a dive) was fun. Saturday Night Live was a fun show for me to watch at the time and one of their skits (where the surly clerk yells "cheezborger, cheezborger . . No Coke, Pepsi") was based on the Tavern.
I just wondered about it because what started out to be a nightmare turned into a fun evening paid for by Delta. See miracles do happen.

How nice! No way would my husband drive 11 hours for me to meet someone! Bo wouldn't go with me to Hot Springs to meet oldy and hubby when they were driving from Chicgo to see his uncle and she's my niece! Glad yall liked each other in person as well as on line! Soulkid go, too?

soulman would do it. physically---it would kill me, just like it would jamie---so we are lucky to have the guys we have eh?
i guess next time it will be my turn. (or my hubbys).
it was a GREAT time, had by all.. soul kid.."didn't want to hang out with old people"... but later regretted it after she heard about the dinner we had!!! now she thinks we're gonna go rush her over there...haha NOT..her loss. in more ways than one.. she met jamie..but was very shy, and didnt say much...but she woulda like them both had she hung out with us a little and given them a chance.
oh well- kids...what can ya do?
oh and no- their kids are grown..just the two of them came out.
mary.. your time in chicago sounds like fun.. i hope my time there is good. i have a lot of fears. social phobia.. cold phobia... driving phobia... leaving my family phobia...but it has as many good sides to it. i'm sure i am over reacting! i will be sure to report back on my return.. i will be gone 11-8 to 11-12...with OLDY..and visitin crusty! how KOOL!
oldy is my sister... but i'll have met jamie AND Crusty... in just a matter of weeks.
and oldy--- ME...getting normal? i don't know about that. let's see how i fare after chicago shall we? :))

it's 14 and a wake up! and i am a weirdo nervous mental cracker already. and i cannot beleive i am goin up there just as blind as i was with jamie comin here. wth are we doing, and when? still wingin it??? i guess maybe that's just the way to go eh? cuz it all depends on the weather, and your kids, and my nephews etc etc etc. .. it'll work itself out. if it does end up bein freezin ass cold tho--- i'll smoke and you can watch. right?
