could i have cursed myself with my tuesday torment title?
y'all would not believe what we just went through. well, as i said, we were on our way to the movies... hmmm... a funny thing happened on the way to the dollar theater. we got caught in TORRENTIAL rain AND flooding. by the time we decided to turn around and come home... it was too late.... flooding, traffic closed roads, and.. my daughter had never been in a flood like this before, so she was all terrified , ... we tried to calm her...because, we knew even through detours etc, that we would be ok. but she wanted no part of our consolation. she was really scared.
ESPECIALLY... when we went through some too deep water... and the car stalled ! luckily some guys were standing on the street... watching giant trash cans float by etc...well, they pushed us out.. but my stupid car took about 20 minutes to start up again., another car... STUPID people amaze me... even with us, sitting there "dead in the water"... tried to go through the same water...and stalled. the same guys pushed them out too...but their car..started in like three minutes and they were gone.... that's about when my girl started crying. not fun. she's fine now though, and we're home. but it was quite the little adventure.
so anyhow.. ya ...if i woulda known the entire town would flood in ten minutes, we would have stayed home and not tried to go to the movies. it's been raining for a friggen month... . i'm sick of it already.
first it ruins the fishing, and now we can't even go to the damn movie. erg.
ok... now, i have to go and cook dinner. no tellin when i'll get another turn online to "talk" to people.
anyhow... i shall return.. sometime between ummm.... i have no idea...it may be 5 or 6 in the morning. earlier if i demand some real time on here....i'm tired of posting and commenting without even a chance to proofread or anything., erg. i gotta go.

Damn, Soul, this sounds SCARY. I'd be freaking right along with your daughter. My little car sits low to the ground, and when it rains hard here the intersections all flood out. To get to my house can be a real challenge, not to mention when I used to live at the farm. I'm so glad you were able to get your car started again, and safely home. A lady at work ran thru deep water with an agency car, got water in the engine whatever and ruined it. My boss was not a happy camper over that one. Wow, you've cooked two good meals today... see what happens when we step away from the puter! :-) Ok, don't hit me, I couldn't resist! (And don't ask me what I'm eating for supper here at my puter.) hehe Love ya Soul sis!
well now i must know.. WHAT are you eating? BROWNIES???? gimmee some!!!
and speaking of ruining the engine in the car... i'm afraid mine may never be the same. it ran awful rough after it stalled out. it could very well have been damaged. GOOD thing it's insured.
btw... hubby was so pissed when that other car started so soon after stalling after us... he said..
i'm trading this f'n car IN !!!
so... broke or not..; i may have a new ride on the way. :))
Oh no, are you up for another car shopping spree?? If it's going to keep raining there, maybe you want a big pick up too (or possibly an ark??)!
Actually I was thinking about all your nice freshly cooked suppers, and here I was munching half of a left-over IHOP omlet, a handful of cherries, and a dish of icecream. If I lived closer I'd hire you as chef! "Drive by supper to go for Josie!" I actually think someone could make good money doing that for women who work out of the house and don't feel like messing in the kitchen at the end of the day.
I'm sorry...what a crappy thing to happen!
Glad you didn't get carried away by the flood waters!!!!
JOS... that dinner you had sounds simply divine !NOT. you poor girl.
a leftover omlette? i don't think God invented anything worse than a leftover, re heated egg.
great business idea too... we could have the mail order cleaning fairies... AND a drive by dinner service! if only they made disposable pots and pans!!! i hate to wash my own dishes...i couldn't imagine a dinner service worth! ACK!
i didn't even think about the
"little shop of car shopping horrors!"
ERG! i guess i'll find out for sure today, when i see if it's gonna start and drive ok. no tellin.
the bad part of that whole car thing... if the insurance would fix it.. i would still have to come up with the 500.00 deductible. (insert the F word here)
and if not..and we just traded it in... i gotta be at least 3 grand upside down in it. the payoff..after owning the car for 1 year..it was last anniversary gift. or was it my birthday. hell, i don't remember. senile much? ummm yep!.. so if "they" paid that loan off, and i got another car of equal value... i'd owe out the A** on it.
and speaking of getting ME a truck. i cannot. i traded in a perfectly good truck on the nissan i have now... with all my physical pains etc...it just got too hard for me to get in and out of, and especially to load and unload groceries. we only owed 10 grand on it, and it only had like 60,000 miles on it too. a 2002 chevy crew cab, i kinda miss it actually... but i just couldn't drive it. much.
so,anyhow, we traded it in on the nissan. much much easier for me. but.. we were like three or four grand upside down, and ended up with like an 18+ thousand dollar loan.. which after ALL the payments etc on it..still owe over 15... the original sticker price of the friggin car!!!! ERG.
let's just hope the engine is ok in this one. if not, maybe i'll just get a new engine from insurance. i can't afford a "new" car. hell, i can't afford my insurance deductible.
so much for my damn cyst surgery eh? if it aint one damn thing, it's another!
but hey.. on the bright side.. the interior did not flood..or get wet at all... so i'm good there. what a way to "leak check" your car eh?
cya later
E! i'm glad we didn't get washed away too! we could have,. alot of people did...but no deaths..that i've heard of..yet. phew.
but the car was floating! a few times. it was BAD. the worst this area has had in over twenty years!
surley someone has seen the news about it? if you have.. we are the ones that shows like the hwy 820 shut down.. one of the busiest areas in fort worth! at rush hour!
and the golf course that turned into a lake! and all the ditches that turned into rivers! a couple houses are about to slide into a "creek" here... which is now a RIVER. it's eating up the hillsides... one house has literally..less than five feet, before the entire backyard becomes the "creek"... the house is sure to slide off, if the rain doesn't stop...and even if it does... you can't replace a hillside! what will they do? have the entire house moved?
i really feel like God was and has been watching out for us through all this...we could be SO much worse off!
y'all say a prayer for these other folks out here. they are really suffering. especially the ones who are losing kids...and their entire homes and lives....
it's insane.
anyways... hopefully today will be a good day...for all of us..and the flood victims!
take care.
That sounds like a really scary journey to the movies. I am happy that you made it home okay. The rain that your area has had recently is all that is on the news. Be careful, Okay? BTW, maybe your car will be fine when it's had time to dry out all the way---that happens alot at work when we wash off the engines....
hi jamie...
howya doin?
ya, that's what i'm hoping, that the car will be ok. i love my car.
and i know, the news is having a field day with the flood coverage. i wish they would've said more about the flood risk BEFORE we left for the movie tho. at that time,l it had only been raining for about twenty minutes...and everything was already flooded/flooding.
they said we got like almost 4 inches of rain in just over an hour. THE hour that we were driving in it!
just call me shleprock!
anyhow.. again... ditto on the us being ok part. it really coulda been worse. we were just very happy to get home!
CORRECTION...
updated on the news this morning... my city got...
4.99 INCHES
of rain in 90 minutes. i really don't think it was that long. it was closer to an hour of actually rain... then all the creeks and ditches overflowed. it was a mESS.
