anyhow... i, apparently have been believing a LIE, for many many years. my mother told me YEARS ago.. like when i was 13 or so.. when we were traveling , and her back went out.. i was forced to drive. talk about PRESSURE! but during her, ten minute driving lesson, with me at the wheel, for the first time, on a Utah higway, in the dark ... she did inform me of a little tid bit of apparently a myth...and not a fact! but i have beleived and passed on this info many many times over the years. this being... that driving a car barefooted is illegal.
well, i just challenged my hubby with this info, as he was leaving to take the kid to school...barefooted. he of course... informed me..that I had been misinformed.
so... me being the type i am.. i must be RIGHT... but so must HE... so we are in a little "who's right" thing. so i googled it while he was gone...
here's what i found
American States
Alabama:
Barefoot Driving: Operation of a motor vehicle by a driver with bare feet is permitted. Exception: motorcycle rider.

Someone told me that was illegal in Texas too! Man, I coulda been barefoot all this time dammit! (actually I did drive barefoot last night...haha)
I have also been passing along this "mis-information" my entire life! lol
In fact i just told eva the other day "it's illegal to drive barefooted"
How many other tidbits of idiocy have i been passing around??
you REBEL !!!!
even though i beleived it to be illegal ALL my driving years... i still drive barefoot... but never without shoes "at the ready"... just in case... mr police officer happens along. *EVIL GRIN*
well, OLDY.. seein as we have the same mother... perhaps... ALOT!!! LOL
Don't you just HATE being wrong, and Hubby being right? Oh well...I, too thought that it was illegal to drive barefooted, maybe it was a plot by our mothers?
jamie.. yes i DO hate it when he wins in those situations.. i always want to outsmart him. sometimes i do.. but more often he wins! blah!
and YES.. just like the.. "you;; get a cramp and drown if you don't wait an hour after eating to go swimming!
ya suuuure...now that we hit passed the age of forty, the truth comes out... it is SHEER laziness on the parents part... we really need that hour to recover from eating, before we can dispense the energy of playing lifegaurd !
LOL
I like knowing that Soul, 'cuz I LVE to do it, especially on long road trips like when I go to Dakota. I always figured if I got pulled over I would get shit about it. And of course Dad says "That won't be good in an accident." Yeah right dad, but that clean underwear I put on in the morning just in case, probably won't be in great shape either! ROFL
i too have always heard that it was illegal...it just won't be as much fun now.
perhaps... the parents decide to only tell the girls this little tid bit... so that the guys will be able to make us all look like fools after we have told the world that they are breakin the law by DWS !!! (driving without shoes).
it's a conspiracy! one more thing to make the LOOK smarter, because we all KNOW different.. right ladies? LOL
and JOSIE.. LOL about the underwear !!!! ya , i don't guess it does matter much in that situation, does it? LMAO!
Portia...welcome...and your right... it does suck the fun right out of it now that it's okay...doesn't it?
blah!
